Crime rates in the greater Minecraftian area have hit a record low, says law enforcement officers located in Spawn City. While it is well known that Minecraftia has an unusually healthy criminal underground, city officials have been left baffled by the sudden decline of any and all illegal activity.
“The past few weeks have been unusually slow,” says the official statement released Sunday by the department of law. “For now we are keeping our guard up, but it seems as though the well-known local mafia hotspots have all just up and disappeared.”
Whether or not this has anything to do with the sudden spike of infighting conducted in the mafia just before the drop off remains to be seen.
Police and security officers have been almost as quiet on the matter as the mob, but word on the street (and from some very close-to-home sources for certain journalists reporting on the case) says the lull has to do with the infamous leader, known to the public as ‘The Dogfather’, departing under unknown circumstances for an undisclosed location.
Locals around the area of the previous mafia hub seem just as mystified as to what happened as anyone, so it may seem like the full story was nowhere to be found. But fear not, Dear Readers; this reporter managed to find a source close enough to the action that more information could collected. Zoeya Proasheck, well known for being close friends with mage Rythian Enderborn, tells The Times that she and her partner were once enemies of the mob – she herself claiming the top spot as Undesirable Number 1.
When asked what earned her this (what some might call) honor, Proasheck merely laughed. “I may have killed their leader once or twice, but he’s fine now. He’s a demigod after all . . . it’s stupid, really, to think that started are mini war.”
She went on to explain that her squabble with the mafia led her to be directly against some of Minecraftia’s most influential and powerful people. Was this fight what led to the record high of crimes in the past weeks? Further testing of this theory and a quick look at the record books told us here at The Times that most of what was stolen were weapons, and the death toll names were almost all Proasheck’s near acquaintances or outliers who hadn’t declared themselves to either side. I’ll let you decide your own opinions, but to me the story seems fairly clear.
According to Proasheck, the final showdown between her and the boss coincided almost directly with the end of the war. Whether or not this means the two events were directly linked is unknown – the evidence states clearly that this was a factor, but other, closer sources to the man in charge himself claim several other events also came into play.
The Dogfather did some soulsearching, said several anonymous sources, and found that the way he ran things had veered from its original path. Due to this and the ultimately devastating defeat of Proasheck, he made the decision to disband the mafia and let the members go their separate ways. The Dogfather himself could not be reached for comment.
For now the city’s residents can rest easy in their beds, at least until some new crisis pops up for the world to narrowly avoid. When that happens, you know who it'll be on the scene. Signing off for now, Minecraftia – stay safe out there.
