Rules and Info!

Welcome to the Yogsummer rp forum!

• First and foremost: HAVE FUN. That is essentially the sole purpose of this forum! This is meant to be a safe place for people to come together and have a good time, get creative, make friends, and nerd out over a common interest and goals.
  

In addition to having fun, I'm going to lay out a few ground rules to keep things fair and fun for everyone and give a little guidance to people who may be new to this style of rping.

Core Rules:

• "Yes, and" "yes, and" is an improv term for carrying on your acting partner's idea and adding to it. RP is all about playing off one another so it's important to fuel that relationship. Don't shut down or ignore another player's work, if you don't like where things are going try to gently redirect or message the player ooc to discuss things!
  
• Be descriptive! Give your fellow players lots to work with! Sometimes there might not be much to say or add, especially if things are moving fast in a dramatic scene, but make sure to add some action, emotion, or commentary to the scene to keep things moving.
  
• No Flaming. Respect your fellow player. Conflict is a good dramatic tool for play so feel free to be as aggro in character as you feel necessary but do not carry that anger over into the OOC boards. If another character argues with you it isn't personal so don't rip into their player over it.
  
• No God-Modding. This means that you can't control the actions or reactions of another player character. This goes for everything from combat to describing their emotional state and actions. (Since there has been some questions about this a tutorial will be going up soon for things like combat, that will hopefully show how to and how not to directly interact without stepping on toes)
  
• No Power Playing. Allow your character to make mistakes, take hits and just utterly fail every so often. That isn't to say you have to let every bad thing that comes up happen to you, but it makes for a more interesting game if it does once in a while.
  
• Rating The forum won't have a set rating, but we'd prefer if you'll keep it under nc17. Violence, blood and gore are fine as long as proper warnings are given. Smut and other sexual activities are discouraged in any public form. Do what you will in PM's just keep it away from where everyone can read it, that being said there is a difference between kissing and cuddling and smut, so use your own discretion. Triggering subjects are allowed but MUST be properly labeled. We want this place to be open and friendly for everyone and for people to not have to worry about what they are reading. Bad language is alright but try and keep it from getting to out of hand. Bad language does NOT include slurs. Slurs, sexual remarks, and derogatory terms will not be tolerated. If you make people extremely uncomfortable you will be given a warning, if you continue you will be banned.
  

Character Creation:

• Signing Up. For simplicity's sake, please make your username the name of the character you wish to play! OC's are encouraged! You should be able to make multiple accounts with the same email address, so you can make as many or as few characters as you want, but maybe keep it limited to one OC (and one canon if you're interested in playing one) starting out!
  
• Canon Characters There will be a list of available Canon Characters up soon, they are available on a first come first served basis, but if a canon you wish to play is already taken please contact me or another mod, and we may be able to work something out! We do have several of the same character on the server, and in a world where cloning accidents are a possibility, it's not entirely unheard of that we could have a couple of the same people running around! (more rules on this to come, as necessary)
  
• Bios Please write up a short (or long, entirely up to you) bio of your character in the character roster section! This will help everyone keep each other straight. Bio's can be edited and added to as the story unfolds!
  

Creating a Topic:

• Private vs. Public Most topics are open for anyone to jump in on at any point, but if you're looking for something smaller or only involving certain characters simply put (Private) in the post title.
  
• Choosing a location There will be plenty of locations available, with new locations being added at the player's request! Each location may have a different atmosphere, or group of people who frequent so keep that in mind when starting a topic, or looking for one to join (ie. don't go to Blackrock if you don't want to talk to the Blackrock gang! etc...)
  AU FORUM The AU forum will be for ANY AND EVERY AU plot you can imagine! It will be less structured than the other boards, but should provide a lot of fun! If any particular AU get's extremely popular, a separate board may be set up for it in the future!
  Trigger Warnings If you think your topic, or post contains any sort of triggering material, please put an OOC warning at the beginning of the post or in the topic title. This is a safe space, and I'm not going to say you can't act out dark or troubling scenes, but make sure people know what they're getting into! Including your rp partner!!
  Canon As there is an already existing canon from the server rp, it may be difficult to carry over a full report of everything that happened here (unless people are interested in documenting it, in which case, go for it!) but an ongoing forum canon will likely be necessary. A timeline will be set up as soon as things get going, where people will be able to add links, and possibly shuffle around events if they're happening simultaneously.
