It’s been chaos in the streets as the mysterious illness Taint overtakes many of the citizens of Minecraftia. Every direction you look the ground is covered with purple and now, a week into the mess, people have started contracting it too.
The sickness, known on the street as Flux or Taint, is a result of the runoff of magic, says knowledgeable source Rythian Enderborn. According to him, former higher-up of the Mafia and known confidant of the mysterious Dogfather Nanosounds came into contact with a concentrated form of it and, as a result, brought it into this world.
When left alone in players, the illness will cause horrible pain and violent tendencies as well as a tell-tale streak of purple. Those inflicted say that it causes them pain and discomfort, when they are fit to speak at all.
The Tainted wander the streets with warped personalities, calling for the mysterious Mother, who experts assume is the physical construction of the hivemind they seem to act under.
Taint was previously a problem only in the land, but after that was stopped by Enderborn and colleague/scientist Lalna using stone from the alternate dimension the End, it began to spread rapidly to players instead.
It is recommended that all those untainted avoid contact with those who are, and that if you begin to show signs of having picked up the disease yourself you should stay inside until further information can be given.
While there is no known cure, firsthand sources say that all those Tainted (of which the numbers estimate are now anywhere between two-thirds and three-fourths of the current server population) will be teleported later this week to be Reset, or turned back to a previous form, to rid their bodies of the disease.
This ‘solution’ will result in the mass loss of the memories of anyone currently inflicted with Taint.
Will the remaining few be able to pick up the pieces of their comrades lost thoughts? What will our Resident demigod, heavily fluxed himself and unable to be Reset, do to stop the spread of the sickness again? More on the story as it develops.
